Resources Created for My Students
This mathematics lesson unit is...

Reading Organizer
In our reading unit, we begun to read our texts more closely and identify important passages, on the course to theme development. My students needed some assistance in explicitly thinking deeply about their reading. The following organizer asks students a series of questions to help guide their thinking.

Math Problem Solving Template
In our fractions math unit, students were having great difficulty solving word problems. While this is continously a difficult skill for many students, this template made organizing mathematical thinking and the components to a great word problem solution possible. This template also allowed students to self reflect on which aspect of the problem solving practice they needed the most help with.

Writing Story Arc
In our writing unit, students had the opportunity to compose their own historical fiction pieces. In order to supplement the writing process, I created a detailed story arc to assist students as they began planning and creating their own story ideas.

Social Studies Vocabulary Model
Throughout our social studies curriculum, students develop atlas skills and learn extensive vocabulary. This organizer pushes students to define unknown words, as well as, develop sentences, examples, and drawings, to supplement their understanding of the specific term. This tool proved to be helpful when students had to fluidly incorporate vocabulary into their discussions and research.
Lesson Plans
3rd Grade Mathematics
These back-to-back lessons are designed for 3rd grade operations and algebraic thinking through division. This lesson block highlights the implementation of C.R.A. and adaptations for an EL student.
4th Grade Writing/Social Studies
Both lessons are composed for a 4th grade curriculum. While the first lesson is produced for 4th grade writing, the second lesson is created for 4th grade social studies. The writing lesson focuses on character development and the social studies lesson focuses on the relationship between the U.S. Census Bureau and geography. Both of these engaging lessons were used in student teaching observations.
5th Grade Literacy
This literacy curriculum unit is designed for 5th grade readers on nonfiction vocabulary and text structure. These three consecutive lessons are created for a specific group of provided student profiles regarding reading levels and reading assessment data.
6th Grade Geometry
This curriculum unit is designed for 6th grade geometry students studying area and surface area. This unit is composed of five consecutive engaging lessons that incorporate the basic skills of mathematical vocabulary development and procedural understanding with real world application.
This slideshow accompanied the social studies lesson on the relationship between the U.S. Census Bureau and geography. This lesson involved an engaging internet scavenger hunt, pushing students to hone in on their research skills while navigating an informational web page.
Student Work Analysis & Assessment
This analysis takes student work into consideration in order to plan and create future assessment tools to best match student performance and needs.
